Make a 2017 Family Bucket List

Thanks to the awesomeness that is Facebook,  I got to look as my friend made some life long memories with his children. Their family was on the capital lawn watching all of the pomp and circumstance that is our democracy at work.  Together as a family they made the decision last year that no matter who won or who lost in the election, they wanted to be able to say that they were there when the presidential inauguration happened in 2017.

It was a bucket list item for their family.

Over the course of this last year each member worked to make their family’s dream become a reality.  I have loved watching the excitement in their eyes as their picture’s played across the screen.  This is an event that they won’t ever forget.

Seeing them live out this dream, got me to thinking.  We are nearing the close of the first month of 2017.  It went by in the blink of an eye and the rest of the year will follow in the same way.  What did you family do in this past month that built your legacy?  What did you do that was a help to someone, taught you something, or was a dream come true?  What events or experiences would to play in your 2017 highlight reel?

We wake up day after day, rushing here and there, climb back in bed, all while assuming we will see tomorrow or that there will be plenty of time to make those memories with our children and our loved ones.  This week our family lost someone and it once again made me reflect on how fleeting life is.    Don’t wait to make the days count.

Memory Maker

The memory maker for this month is to create a 2017 Family Bucket List.  Gather your family close, figure out the memories that are do-able for this year, and schedule them.  Here are a few idea’s:

-learn a new language
-Start a business
-Visit a Waterfall
-Explore a cave
-Play paintball
-Touch a snake
-Try a new cuisine
-Go Camping
-Visit a state park
-Plant a flower, tree, or garden
-Read 10, 20, or 100 Books
-Dance in the rain
-Make a snowman
-Research your genealogy
-Swim in the Ocean
-Watch a caterpillar turn into a butterfly (there are kits for this)
-Run a 5K

There are just a few idea’s to get your creative juices flowing.  Making memories and building experiences don’t need to cost an arm and a leg they only have to be a priority.

Speak words of love and worth to those around you, experience lots of new things, and treasure each day as a precious gift.  If you are willing to share, please comment below to let us know some of the items on your families bucket list for 2017!!!!!!!!
