The Perfect Game Day Bites
After the incredibly disappointing loss of our families team in the playoff’s, we no longer have a horse to cheer for in the big game. The way I see it, we can either pretend that the NFL just decided that there was no team good enough to hold the game this year, but I don’t have an imagination strong enough for that, or focus on the perfect game day bites and hope for some really funny commercials.
I think we all knew that option 2 had me all along. Seriously, who can resist dancing babies and buffalo chicken bites?
You may also be feeling the sting of having to sit through the biggest game of the year minus your favorite team. Hopefully these game day bites idea’s will soothe the sting a bit.
Looking through our blog, we saw that there are some great small bites we think your family and friends will love. So make your picks, either way you will end the night a winner.
Here are our top picks.
This dip is one of our most popular recipes on the blog and for delicious reasons. This versatile dip can be served up with veggie chips and apple slices. It’s spicy heat blended against the creamy cheese will keep your guest coming back for more. If you would like leftover’s, keep some in the refrigerator. This is a great make ahead option, as it stores well in the refrigerator.
These empanada’s are my gift to you, they are always a crowd pleaser. Your family will thank you, your in-law’s will think you are wonderful, and if we could get everyone around the same table, may even create world peace! Ok, I may have gotten a little carried away with that last one, but I can honesty say they are tasty. The best part is that by taking a short cut, using store bought pie dough, they are also quick and easy. These empanada’s can be made ahead and frozen until the day you need them. I love this option. No need to work right until my guests come and no dirty kitchen that we need to scramble to clean before the guests arrive.
What big game party is complete without a snack mix for the nervous nibblers? This Almond Joy’s Sweet-N-Salty mix goes together in minutes and is the perfect sweet treat. Make up a big bowl of this in place of a fancy dessert. This is also a great snack for your friends or family with gluten issues. Replace the pretzels with a gluten free pretzel option and now everyone can snack!
My brother loves Buffalo wings in all their shapes, sizes, and flavors. He loves them so much in fact, that he has perfected how to eat them. He places the wing between his teeth and slurps and slithers it through his mouth until the only thing that remains are the bones. It was straight up nasty to watch. No one needs that at their big game party. These buffalo chicken bites provide all the flavor and taste of a buffalo chicken wing without the fuss and bones. They are a perfect small bite party food.
Not all small party bites need to be heavy and carb laden. These tasty lettuce wraps are fun when served build-your-own style. Your guests will love the fresh assortment of toppings, as well as the spicy peanut sauce, and you will love how easy they are to put together. This is another great make ahead option. Cut, shred, and prepare all the ingredients days ahead. On game day, just place toppings in bowls, and heat up the dipping sauce before serving. Super easy!
Of all the choices on this list this is by far my first choice every time. I love the freshness of this dish, the heat from the meat and the salsa, the smooth creamy crema, and the pop of the zesty lime. This is a dish I have been known to crave and one that is so easy to put together. Guests always enjoy this, because who doesn’t love taco’s?
Hopefully, you found your Perfect Big Game Bites on our list. We would love to see your pictures from your big game celebrations.
